The Wednesday Social is a midweek leg-turner usually covering 20-35 miles depending on conditions and who turns out. The pace will be to suit the slowest rider. When numbers permit two (or more) rides will run to cater for different speeds/abilities. As well as providing club members with a mid-week ride this is a great place for new riders to come along and meet the club.

A typical route would take us from the Mulberry Tree up Broad Lane and out along Swineyard Lane before looping through High Legh towards Pickmere and then back through Antrobus to Barbers Lane and New Road to finish and disperse from the Thorn pub in Appleton Thorn.

The ride leader will manage the pace to suit the slowest rider and will arrange for regular stops/re-grouping. We would like to ask riders to be respectful of this for your own safety and the safety of the group. Suitable for road bikes only.

New riders should ensure they bring along a Guest Registration form, and where possible let us know to expect you via our Contact Us form.  Thanks

We meet at the Mulberry Tree, Stockton Heath, WA4 2AF. Please arrive by 18:50 for a prompt 19:00 start. Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube and/or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights. You should also bring enough to drink (minimum one full bottle) and snacks/gels etc appropriate for the length of the ride.

General Rules:

  • Please keep pavements clear at meeting points, be respectful of pedestrians.
  • We generally ride as a single group, unless we have 12 or more riders when we would split into 2 groups (assuming we have enough ride leaders to accommodate this)
  • Riders must ride maximum two abreast – and on the left hand side of the road – safety first!
  • Riders must have someone they can phone in case of emergencies and mechanical failure – it is not the responsibility of the leaders to fix a bike – but they will help if they can.

New riders are always more than welcome and can enjoy 3 free taster rides with us before joining our club. For full details of our guidelines and to get a copy of the guest registration form if you are new to the club, visit our Guidelines page.  You should ensure you complete the Guest Registration Form and bring it along to your first ride.
