This months stretch ride takes us to the Wirral. The demise of the iconic Eureka Café means we have to go a little further down the peninsula to find our coffee stop!

We head to Chester via Frodsham, the Ridgeway, Kelsall, Waverton and Saighton. From Chester we take the cycle path along the Dee before cutting through Deeside Industrial Park (again on bike paths) and across Burton Marsh (stay on the Boardwalk and not under it) and on to Nets for a well deserved coffee after 45miles.

After coffee we cross the Wirral passing through Burton, Capenhurst and into Whitby before heading to Backford and a loop round Chester Zoo. From here it’s country lanes through Wervin, Stoak and Picton before picking up the A56 into Helsby where we flirt with (avoid) the 10% ramps of Primrose Lane on the way up to Alvanley before descending back into Frodsham then up to Preston Brook and down Windmill Hill before the final climb of the day up Keckwick Lane and through the Science Park to Daresbury and home.

At 82.2 miles this is the longest of the year to date by a couple of miles but we have done more climbing on a couple of rides than todays 3,273ft of ascent

We typically average between 14mph and 16mph and we would like to ask riders to be respectful of this for your own safety and the safety of the group. Suitable for road bikes only.

You can view details of the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42099802

Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.

We meet at the Mulberry Tree, Stockton Heath, WA4 2AF and leave at 8:30AM prompt. Please aim to be at the meeting point by 08:20AM
Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.

General Rules:
– Please keep pavements clear at meeting points, be respectful of pedestrians.
– Riders must ride maximum two abreast – not four! – and on the left hand side of the road – safety first!
– We generally ride as a single group, unless we have 12 or more riders when we would split into 2 groups (assuming we have enough ride leaders to accommodate this)
– Riders must have someone they can phone in case of emergencies and mechanical failure – it is not the responsibility of the leaders to fix a bike – but they will help if they can.
