This month’s stretch ride takes us out to Old Ma’s near Tattenhall.

PLEASE NOTE: 08.00Hrs START

From Acton Bridge we climb up to Newton via Crowton, Kingsley and Meeting House Lane. A flat section takes us to the final section of the Manley Road climb out of Frodsham. A descent of Manley Road follows before the drag up Brines Brow and Yeld Lane. From here we drop down to Clotton, Huxley and The Shady Oak before hitting the drag back up to Beeston Castle. A flat loop around Newtown takes us to Tattenhall and our café stop.

After the stop its on to Tarporley where we climb up past the McDonald Portal Hotel & Spa before turning right and descending into Eaton. Then home via Sandiway, Hodge Lane, Soot Hill, Frandley and Reed Lane before a final sprint up the Arley drag.

70miles and 3,126ft of ascent is what makes this a stretch ride for the Active group.

You can view details of the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43452841

The Active ride is paced between 14-16mph. We typically ride at around 15mph average and we would like to ask riders to be respectful of this for your own safety and the safety of the group. Suitable for road bikes only.

We meet at the Mulberry Tree, Stockton Heath, WA4 2AF. Please arrive by 07.50 for a prompt 08:00 start. Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube and/or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights. You should also bring enough to drink (minimum one full bottle) and snacks/gels etc appropriate for the length of the ride.

General Rules:
– Please keep pavements clear at meeting points, be respectful of pedestrians.
– Riders must ride maximum two abreast – not four! – and on the left hand side of the road – safety first!
– We generally ride as a single group, unless we have 12 or more riders when we would split into 2 groups (assuming we have enough ride leaders to accommodate this)
– Riders must have someone they can phone in case of emergencies and mechanical failure – it is not the responsibility of the leaders to fix a bike – but they will help if they can.
