One to ease back in after any Christmas and New Year excesses…Ginger & Pickles in Cranage has become a firm favourite in recent years so it seems apt to start the New Year with a visit there.
We head East to start in the direction of Thelwall and Lymm before heading across to Dunham Massey, Bowden from where we head South to Ashely, Mobberley, Martell and Goostrey. A final turn West and a few short miles brings us to the café stop where those who have resolved to lose weight in 2023 will meet the first real test of the day!!
After coffee a few turns of the pedals will bring us to Byley where we turn North and head for home taking in Plumley, Pickmere and Arley and the first sprint of the year up the Arley drag to finish!
48miles and 1,400ft of ascent.
We typically average between 14mph and 16mph and we would like to ask riders to be respectful of this for your own safety and the safety of the group. Suitable for road bikes only.
You can view details of the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41552758
Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet. You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.
We meet at the Mulberry Tree, Stockton Heath, WA4 2AF and leave at 8:30AM prompt. Please aim to be at the meeting point by 08:20AM
Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet. You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.
General Rules:
– Please keep pavements clear at meeting points, be respectful of pedestrians.
– Riders must ride maximum two abreast – not four! – and on the left hand side of the road – safety first!
– We generally ride as a single group, unless we have 12 or more riders when we would split into 2 groups (assuming we have enough ride leaders to accommodate this)
– Riders must have someone they can phone in case of emergencies and mechanical failure – it is not the responsibility of the leaders to fix a bike – but they will help if they can.
