A slightly shorter route for the Active group this week to tempt you out after a surfeit of turkey and mince pies! And an opportunity for an early start on that New Year Resolution for those Social riders looking to get out more often in 2025!

A cosy café with hot radiators – useful for drying wet socks or warming cold hands. We head out via Action Bridge ands the short but steep climb up Acton Lane before heading toward Weaverham and the long false flat up through Sandiway and Foxwist Green. The return is via the descent of Cinder Hill and through Whitegate Village before skirting Northwich and heading home via Winnington, Comberbach, Antrobus and the Arley drag.

At 35.6 miles it is shorter than usual and 1,350ft of ascent provides some relief for those concerned about Christmas pounds…

We typically average between 14mph and 16mph and we would like to ask riders to be respectful of this for your own safety and the safety of the group. Suitable for road bikes only.

You can view details of the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37556719

Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.

We meet at the Mulberry Tree, Stockton Heath, WA4 2AF and leave at 8:30AM prompt. Please aim to be at the meeting point by 08:20AM
Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.

General Rules:
– Please keep pavements clear at meeting points, be respectful of pedestrians.
– Riders must ride maximum two abreast – not four! – and on the left hand side of the road – safety first!
– We generally ride as a single group, unless we have 12 or more riders when we would split into 2 groups (assuming we have enough ride leaders to accommodate this)
– Riders must have someone they can phone in case of emergencies and mechanical failure – it is not the responsibility of the leaders to fix a bike – but they will help if they can.
