Yes, of course! We’re a very inclusive club that caters for all abilities. You are more than welcome to join us for three taster rides completely free before you join, as we’re sure you’ll love it and then you’ll be desperate to part with £20 of your hard-earned and become a Wild Biker.
We recommend that your first ride is the bi-weekly Coffee ride. Just go to our Membership page where you can download and complete the WBCC Guest Registration Form to bring along with you. You should also take some time to read and understand the relevant guideline and rules document for the ride you intend to join.
Road Rides meet in front on The Mulberry Tree in Stockton Heath at 8:20am for an 8.30am depart every Sunday. Mountain Bike rides occur every Thursday evening from 19:00 departing from the Tigers Head Inn in Norley.
You can join via the British Cycling Website here. Wild Bikes Membership.
Once your membership is confirmed you will recieve and invitation to the WBBC Spond service and Strava group.
Looking forward to riding with you.
There are several regular outgoings for a cycling club like ours. This includes our annual affiliations to British Cycling and Cycling Club UK which bring us a range of benefits as a club most importantly providing us with Organisers’ Liability.
There are also a number of events organised throughout the year which the club partially subsidise, in the past there have been Maintenance Courses, Velodrome Track evenings and a summer celebration.
Wild Bikes Cycling Club is affiliated to Cycling Club UK through which it has Organisers’ Liability insurance of up to £10 million for claims made against the club (ride leaders, club officials, event organisers). This insurance does not provide any member with Third Party Cover.
No. We strongly recommend that all our riders insure themselves for personal loss and injury in the form of appropriate Third-Party cover.
This should provide cover for injury or damage caused by you to a third party while you are cycling and is available from either Cycling Club UK or British Cycling.
Notably, you can purchase discounted insurance cover as part of a British Cycling membership. The specific details of the cover will vary accordingly to the provider.
Our ride leaders are responsible for leading the group around the chosen route and promoting the enjoyment and safety of all the participants. Safety is our primary concern. This can mean, if required, ride leaders will cancel a ride, change the route or ask riders to follow specific instructions.
We always try to avoid cancelling rides, However, there may be occasions where we do need to do this. Typically, this is due to changes in ride leader availability or adverse weather conditions which could affect the safety of the group. We aim to give at least an hours’ notice of any cancellation using the Spond notification system.
Any feedback is welcome as the club is only successful on the back of listening to its members.
You can raise any suggestions or concerns with the ride leaders, a committee member or simply send your request from the Contact Us page.
Ensure your cycle computer is configured to access your Wi-Fi. This will be within the manufacturer's phone app.
Wahoo: ensure that your RWGPS credentials are set in the 'Approved apps' list.
Then when within/viewing a RWGPS route, hit the [SAVE] button then select ‘Save to pinned’. On your device, navigate to the 'Routes' tab and hit [Sync]. This will pull all pinned routes from RWGPS into the Wahoo app then push the same to your device.
Garmin: ensure that Garmin connect is set as a 'Connected Service' within your RWGPS settings.
Then when within/viewing a RWGPS route, hit the [SAVE] button then select ‘Save to pinned’. On your phone, within the Garmin Connect app, ensure there is a green dot next to your device denoting connection to the phone, then initiate a sync using the [Sync] symbol , This will then push the pinned route(s) to your device.
Pushing a route to a device in the field (not on home Wi-Fi) works well for most cycling computers. The key is to ensure that your device is connected to your phone by Bluetooth.
Wahoo: check that your Wahoo phone app has the route listed within its route library. If the route is new to you on a day, pin that route in RWGPS then initiate a [Sync] within the Wahoo phone app, followed by a [Sync] on your device.
Garmin: firstly, within Ride with GPS, Save and pin the route, then from your Garmin Connect phone app (GC) initiate a [Sync] with your device. An unpin and (re)pin of a route followed by a GC Sync is a useful trick to help initiate any reluctant or missing routes.
If you use another cycling computer brand please email the club with its field process and we will add it this FAQ.
Of course. New routes can be sourced from friends, lifted from the Internet, generated by recording a ride or created within a step-by-step route planning tool.
Generic files (GPX, TCX) etc. can then be ported into your RWGPS account by yourself (if you have a paid account) or by one of our admins into the clubs RWGPS account adding to our freely available library.
Remote trips are organised through discussion within the community during rides or coffee stops. Participation is often informal and based around common interest, performance levels or ambition to try a certain location.
Yes. Members can use the Spond system 'Posts' function to send messages to the entire club, tier members or members attending a specific ride known as an Event.
The club committee will often send community emails from either wildbikesclub@gmail.com or from within the British Cycling system.
